WHO WE ARE
Boyce Built is a growing residential construction company based in Billings, Montana. We build custom homes, spec homes, and high-quality residential renovations throughout Yellowstone County and the surrounding area.
We take pride in the quality of our work, the experience we provide our clients, and the way our team works together. Our core values are Family First, Team, Respect, Accountability, and Continuous Improvement.
THE POSITION
We are looking for an experienced Construction Project Manager who can take ownership of multiple residential projects and help move our company forward.
This is not simply a position for someone who can maintain a schedule. We are looking for a strong communicator and proactive problem-solver with the residential construction knowledge needed to anticipate issues, hold people accountable, and keep projects moving.
The Project Manager will typically manage 6–8 active projects, including custom homes, spec homes, and renovations. This person will become involved during late preconstruction and take full ownership of each project from handoff through completion, closeout, and warranty.
The position is primarily office-based, with jobsite visits required as needed for coordination, quality control, inspections, project milestones, and problem-solving.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage 6–8 residential construction projects at various stages of completion.
- Review project plans, scopes, budgets, selections, and specifications before construction begins.
- Lead the transition from preconstruction into active construction.
- Develop, maintain, and manage project schedules.
- Coordinate closely with the Field Lead to create an efficient workflow between Boyce Built’s field team, subcontractors, vendors, inspections, and material deliveries.
- Manage subcontractors and vendors while holding them accountable for schedule, quality, communication, and jobsite expectations.
- Ensure work complies with approved plans, specifications, selections, building codes, and Boyce Built’s quality standards.
- Manage project budgets, review job costs and invoices, and identify potential overruns before they become larger problems.
- Coordinate project financial information with clients and the accounting team.
- Obtain subcontractor and vendor pricing needed during construction.
- Prepare and manage change orders when required.
- Maintain proactive and professional communication with clients throughout the project.
- Lead project meetings and communicate clear expectations, responsibilities, and next steps.
- Anticipate project challenges and develop practical solutions before they affect the schedule or budget.
- Keep Buildertrend schedules, budgets, change orders, client communication, and project documentation current.
- Oversee project completion, punch lists, closeout documentation, and warranty items.
- Evaluate and improve company systems, scheduling practices, communication, and project-management processes.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- Typically 3–5 years of residential construction project-management experience.
- Proven ability to manage multiple construction projects simultaneously.
- Strong working knowledge of residential construction methods, sequencing, plans, specifications, and building codes.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong planning, organization, and time-management abilities.
- Ability to solve problems, make decisions, and remain calm under pressure.
- Ability to manage budgets, review job costs, and understand the financial performance of a construction project.
- Comfortable holding team members, subcontractors, and vendors accountable.
- Willingness to take ownership and follow issues through to completion.
- Ability to work effectively with clients, field personnel, subcontractors, vendors, and accounting.
- Comfortable learning and consistently using Buildertrend and other digital tools.
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
- Ability to commute to our Billings office and travel to jobsites as required.
Prior Buildertrend experience is helpful but not required. A college degree or contractor’s license is not required.
