Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Assistant Bookkeeper to join our dynamic finance team. In this vital role, you will support the accounting department by assisting with day-to-day bookkeeping tasks, ensuring accurate financial record-keeping, and maintaining compliance with accounting standards. Responsibilities
- Assist with maintaining accurate general ledger entries using accounting software such as QuickBooks Online, Xero, Sage, and other financial systems
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions efficiently and accurately
- Perform bank reconciliations and balance sheet reconciliations to ensure data integrity
- Prepare journal entries, including debits & credits, for various financial transactions
- Support payroll processing activities and ensure compliance with relevant regulations
- Conduct account analysis and account reconciliation to verify accuracy of financial data
- Assist with financial report writing, budgeting, and supporting GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) compliance
- Maintain organized records of invoices, receipts, and other financial documents for audit readiness
Skills
- Strong proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, QuickBooks Online, Xero, Sage, and other financial software platforms
- Knowledge of corporate accounting principles, non-profit accounting standards, and technical accounting concepts
- Experience with double entry bookkeeping, journal entries, account reconciliation, and general ledger accounting
- Familiarity with payroll processing, tax experience, and bank reconciliation procedures
- Ability to work effectively with spreadsheets for data analysis and reporting purposes
- Understanding of GAAP standards and financial concepts including debits & credits and account analysis
- Excellent attention to detail along with strong organizational skills such as 10 key typing and document management
- Effective communication skills for supporting internal teams and external auditors
