The Jacobs Aviation Team in NY/NJ is experiencing exciting growth within our established practice therefore we have a need for an experienced Aviation Electrical Engineer to support airfield engineering projects.
In this role, you will design, develop, and oversee the implementation of electrical systems for airfields, including lighting, navigation aids, power distribution, and communication systems. The ideal candidate has a strong background in electrical engineering, a deep understanding of aviation standards, and experience working on airfield or infrastructure projects
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop electrical systems for airfields, including:
o Airfield Lighting Systems: Runway lights, taxiway lights, approach lighting, and signage.
o Navigation Aids: Instrument Landing Systems (ILS), Visual Approach Slope Indicators (VASI), and Precision Approach Path Indicators (PAPI).
o Power Distribution: airfield lighting vaults, backup power systems, and energy-efficient solutions.
- Prepare detailed engineering drawings, schematics, and specifications for airfield electrical systems.
- Ensure compliance with aviation standards and regulations (e.g., FAA, ICAO, EASA) and local building codes.
- Conduct site surveys and assessments to evaluate existing electrical infrastructure and identify improvement opportunities.
- Collaborate with architects, civil engineers, and project managers to integrate electrical systems into overall airfield designs.
- Perform load calculations, short-circuit analysis, and power quality assessments for airfield electrical systems.
- Oversee the installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical systems to ensure they meet design specifications and operational requirements.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to airfield electrical systems during design, construction, and operational phases.
- Prepare technical reports, cost estimates, and project documentation for stakeholders and regulatory authorities.
- Stay updated on advancements in airfield technology, sustainable energy solutions, and electrical engineering practices
