Job Title: LTL Shipping & Forklift Operator

Position Summary
The LTL Shipping & Forklift Operator is responsible for preparing, staging, and loading large and heavy freight shipments that move through Less-Than-Truckload (LTL) carriers. This position plays a critical role in ensuring oversized and palletized products are handled safely, accurately, and efficiently.
The role requires significant forklift operation, coordination with the warehouse and shipping teams, and the ability to properly stage and palletize freight for outbound shipments. While administrative tasks are part of the position, the primary focus is on safely moving and preparing heavy product for shipment.
Key Responsibilities
Freight Handling & LTL Shipping

Prepare large, heavy, and palletized products for shipment through LTL freight carriers.

Stage outbound shipments to ensure products are organized and ready for scheduled carrier pickups.

Load and unload freight trucks safely and efficiently.

Work with the shipping team to verify correct products, quantities, and hardware prior to shipment.

Secure freight on pallets using appropriate materials (banding, shrink wrap, etc.) to ensure safe transport.

Assist in coordinating freight placement to maximize trailer space and shipment efficiency.
Forklift Operation

Operate forklifts and other material-handling equipment to move heavy products throughout the warehouse and shipping areas.

Transport finished products from production or storage areas to shipping lanes.

Assist with staging and organizing pallets for outbound freight.

Support other forklift drivers during high-volume shipping periods.
Shipping Coordination

Work closely with the Shipping Clerk and warehouse staff to ensure LTL shipments are prepared accurately.

Verify freight against shipping documentation before loading trucks.

Assist with preparing freight documentation when required.

Communicate with supervisors regarding shipping issues, freight damage, or shipment discrepancies.
General Responsibilities

Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shipping area.

Follow all company safety policies and forklift operating procedures.

Inspect forklifts and equipment prior to use and report any maintenance concerns.

Assist in unloading inbound freight deliveries when necessary.
Required Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Previous warehouse, logistics, or freight shipping experience preferred.

Valid forklift certification required.

Demonstrated experience operating forklifts and moving heavy materials safely.

Ability to follow shipping documentation and verify product accuracy.

Strong teamwork and communication skills.
