Job Overview
Metro Mechanical Services Inc. is a non‑union residential and commercial mechanical contractor providing HVAC, plumbing, refrigeration, boilers, geothermal, drain, and mechanical services throughout the Platte City area and surrounding communities.
We are seeking an experienced Journeyman Residential & Commercial HVAC Technician to run local service and installation calls based out of our Platte City, MO office. This position is home every night with no overnight or out‑of‑town travel required.
This role focuses primarily on residential and light-to-medium commercial HVAC service and installation, with occasional work across related mechanical systems as needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose, service, repair, and install residential and commercial HVAC systems
- Perform preventive maintenance and system inspections
- Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and control system issues
- Read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and technical documentation
- Run service calls independently and manage daily job responsibilities
- Occasionally assist with plumbing, refrigeration, boiler, or drain-related work
- Complete service reports, job documentation, and paperwork accurately
- Follow all safety protocols, codes, and company standards
- Maintain a professional appearance and represent Metro Mechanical positively with customers
Tool Requirements
- Technicians must supply their own basic HVAC hand tools
- Metro Mechanical provides some specialty tools, larger equipment, vehicles, and materials needed for assigned jobs
Required Experience & Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Journeyman HVAC Technician
- Experience in both residential and commercial HVAC service and installation
- Ability to troubleshoot systems independently
- Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude
- Ability to read schematics and technical drawings
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Reliable, self‑motivated, and customer‑focused
- Comfortable working in a non‑union environment
Additional experience with boilers, geothermal, refrigeration, plumbing, or mechanical systems is a plus but not required.
Schedule & Work Area
- Monday–Friday schedule
- No weekends - Unless On-Call
- Technicians dispatch from Platte City, MO.
- We service the Greater Kansas City Metro Area.
