The Commodities Analyst is an entry level role supporting senior traders and analysts on the Commodities Hedging desk through energy market research, intraday market monitoring, trade execution support, and daily risk/position checks across crude oil, refined products, and natural gas in both OTC and exchange-traded markets (e.g., CME/NYMEX). The analyst will build and maintain Excel-based dashboards and produce concise daily/weekly market updates while partnering with Trading, Risk, and Operations to ensure accurate trade capture and timely discrepancy escalation. This is an on-site Oklahoma City position and does not include people management responsibilities.

- You will enter and update trade data, verify details, and escalate discrepancies.
- You will maintain organized, audit-ready logs, documentation, and records.
- You will support daily controls by reconciling activity and resolving breaks.
- You will monitor market activity and provide concise intraday updates.
- You will gather and analyze fundamental data to support research efforts.
- You will create and maintain dashboards, reports, and presentation materials.
- You will provide administrative and workflow support to keep operations running smoothly.
This level of knowledge is normally acquired through completion of a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business, Mathematics, Engineering, Data Analytics, Supply Chain, or a related field of study and 0–2 years of directly related experience (including internships/co-ops) in market research/analysis, trading or risk support, operations/middle office, financial analysis, reporting/analytics, or administrative support in a fast-paced environment requiring strong accuracy and follow-through or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel for building and maintaining trackers/dashboards, refreshing pivots, and using basic data controls to support recurring desk reporting.
- Strong accuracy in data entry and record maintenance, including updating logs, blotters, and supporting documentation in a time-sensitive environment.
- Ability to learn and follow trade entry and trade capture procedures in trading platforms; comfort working from detailed process steps and checklists (training provided).
- Reconciliation and controls mindset compares data across sources, identifies breaks/unmatched items, documents exceptions clearly, and drives issues to resolution with appropriate escalation.
- Ability to monitor market data inputs (including curves/volatility concepts used in verification processes) and summarize key moves/issues clearly for senior traders and analysts.
- Strong organization and prioritization across multiple concurrent tasks (trade entry, daily checks, research/reporting support, and administrative workflow needs) while maintaining accuracy and follow-through.
- Collaborative, professional communication style with discretion and confidentiality when working across trading, risk, operations, brokers, and other partners; role requires on-site work in Oklahoma City (hiring requirement).
