The Lead Network Engineer (Metro & Power) is responsible for defining, governing, and maintaining standard Metro Network Design documentation and network power standards across the organization. This role serves as the primary owner of engineering standards, reference designs, and power infrastructure requirements that enable consistent, scalable, and reliable deployment of metro network facilities. The position partners closely with Network Planning, Engineering, Operations, Architecture, and external vendors to ensure all metro network and power designs align with business objectives, operational requirements, and industry best practices.
- Own and maintain the authoritative Metro Network Design standards, templates, reference architectures, and engineering design documents used by Planning and Engineering teams.
- Govern standard metro transport network designs for new builds, expansions, and network modernization initiatives.
- Establish documentation requirements, engineering guidelines, and design criteria for metro network infrastructure.
- Ensure all design standards remain current, accurate, and aligned with operational, architectural, and business requirements.
- Drive consistency across metro network designs through disciplined standards management and governance processes.
- Own and maintain enterprise network power standards across all network facilities and infrastructure environments.
- Define engineering requirements for DC power systems, AC power distribution, battery systems, generators, rectifiers, power monitoring, grounding, and resiliency architectures.
- Govern standard power designs supporting network availability, scalability, and operational reliability objectives.
- Collaborate with facilities, operations, and engineering teams to ensure consistent adoption of approved power standards.
- Evaluate power infrastructure technologies and recommend standards updates based on industry advancements and operational needs.
- Review network and facility designs to ensure compliance with published metro and power standards.
- Establish governance processes for standards development, review, approval, and lifecycle management.
- Conduct audits and assessments of deployed solutions to validate standards adherence and documentation completeness.
- Manage exceptions and provide technical guidance for non-standard design requests when business requirements dictate.
- Partner with Network Planning and Engineering teams to translate business, capacity, and service requirements into standardized network and power design solutions.
- Support planning initiatives through the development of scalable design frameworks and engineering guidelines.

- Bachelor's degree (BS/BA) in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, Network Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field preferred.
- Equivalent professional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- 5+ years of experience in network engineering, network architecture, transport engineering, or telecommunications infrastructure roles.
- Demonstrated experience developing, governing, and maintaining network design standards and engineering documentation.
- Strong experience with metro transport networks, optical networks, Ethernet transport, or carrier-grade networking environments.
- Direct experience defining and managing network power infrastructure standards, including power resiliency and backup systems.
- Proven ability to work across Planning, Engineering, Operations, Facilities, and vendor organizations.
- Experience leading technical governance, standards compliance reviews, and design approval processes.
- Experience supporting large-scale metro network deployments and network modernization programs.
- Knowledge of central office, hub, aggregation, or transport network environments.
- Experience evaluating emerging transport, optical, and power technologies.
- Familiarity with telecommunications industry standards and best practices for network infrastructure and power systems.
- Experience developing engineering roadmaps and driving standards adoption across large organizations.
- Background serving as a technical lead or subject matter expert for enterprise or service provider network environments.
