Director of Racquet Sports

Position Summary
A premier private community in Naples, Florida is seeking an accomplished, energetic, and service-oriented Director of Racquet Sports to oversee all aspects of the community's racquet and recreational programming, including tennis, pickleball, bocce, pro shop operations, and retail management.
The ideal candidate will be a dynamic leader with a passion for delivering exceptional member experiences, developing innovative programming, and managing a first-class facility. This individual will provide strategic leadership while overseeing daily operations, staff management, financial performance, and member engagement across all racquet and recreational offerings.
Essential Responsibilities
Leadership & Operations
- Direct and oversee all tennis, pickleball, and bocce programming and operations.
- Develop and implement a strategic vision for the racquet sports department that enhances member satisfaction and participation.
- Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate professional staff, instructors, and support personnel.
- Establish and maintain operating standards that reflect the expectations of a premier private community.
- Oversee daily facility operations, court scheduling, reservations, and activity calendars.
Programming & Member Engagement
- Create and manage an annual calendar of events, including leagues, clinics, tournaments, exhibitions, socials, and member events.
- Develop innovative programming for players of all ages and skill levels.
- Oversee the organization and efficiency of open play programs and court utilization.
- Foster a welcoming and engaging environment that promotes member retention and participation.
- Address member concerns and ensure exceptional customer service standards are consistently met.
Pro Shop & Retail Management
- Oversee all pro shop operations, merchandising, and retail sales.
- Manage inventory control, purchasing, pricing strategies, and vendor relationships.
- Develop and implement retail initiatives to maximize revenue and enhance the member experience.
- Monitor retail performance, inventory levels, and financial reporting.
- Ensure the pro shop is professionally maintained, organized, and fully stocked.
Financial Management
- Prepare and manage departmental budgets and annual business plans.
- Monitor revenues and expenses to achieve financial goals and maximize profitability.
- Develop and implement strategies to increase lesson participation, programming revenue, and retail sales.
- Prepare reports and recommendations for club leadership regarding operations and future initiatives.
Facility Management
- Oversee the maintenance and presentation of all tennis courts, pickleball courts, bocce facilities, and related amenities.
- Coordinate with maintenance staff and vendors to ensure facilities are maintained to the highest standards.
- Enforce all club rules, policies, and safety procedures.
Community Relations
- Build and maintain relationships with members, committees, local leagues, and industry professionals.
- Promote a positive, team-oriented culture among staff and members.
- Serve as an ambassador for the club and represent the community in a professional manner.
Qualifications
- Minimum of five years of racquet sports management experience, preferably in a private club, country club, or luxury community setting.
- USPTA or PTR certification required.
- Pickleball certification (PPR, IPTPA, PCI, or equivalent) preferred.
- Demonstrated experience managing multiple recreational amenities and staff.
- Strong business acumen with experience in budgeting, financial reporting, and retail management.
- Proven success in developing programming and increasing member engagement.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Professional appearance and commitment to providing exceptional service.
- Proficiency with club management and racquet reservation software platforms.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
