Position Summary
The Staff Accountant supports the Company's accounting, payroll, and financial reporting functions through the preparation of journal entries, reconciliations, financial reports, payroll processing, and project accounting activities. This position assists with month-end close, compliance requirements, and financial analysis while helping ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial information.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close activities.
Maintain general ledger accounts and resolve accounting discrepancies.
Prepare and analyze financial reports and supporting documentation.
Support project accounting, work-in-progress reporting, and cost tracking activities.
Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
Process and audit weekly and semi-monthly payrolls.
Reconcile payroll-related accounts and support payroll tax, certified payroll, and year-end reporting requirements.
Collaborate with Human Resources to maintain accurate employee, benefit, deduction, and tax information within payroll systems.
Assist with internal and external audits and compliance requirements.
Identify opportunities to improve accounting, payroll, and financial processes.
Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
Two (2) or more years of accounting, payroll, or related financial experience preferred.
Experience with general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, financial reporting, and payroll processing preferred.
Construction, manufacturing, or multi-state employer experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, payroll administration, and payroll tax requirements.
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel.
Ability to manage multiple priorities, maintain confidentiality, and meet deadlines.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
ADA Requirements
This position is primarily performed in an office environment. The employee must be able to operate standard office equipment, work at a computer for extended periods, communicate effectively, and occasionally move between office, shop, and project locations. Occasional lifting of up to 20 pounds may be required.
The employee must be able to analyze information, exercise sound judgment, maintain attention to detail, manage multiple priorities, communicate effectively, meet deadlines, and maintain confidentiality while working independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Pay: $70,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
