Job Summary
We are seeking a Department Assistant I for a contract opportunity in Poway, CA, supporting an onsite document management and data entry project within the aerospace and defense industry. This role is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, dependable, and comfortable with organized, repetitive work involving confidential records.
The Department Assistant I will help review physical files, scan or destroy documents according to retention guidelines, and enter key information into Excel spreadsheets. This is a steady, structured assignment with clear procedures, supportive team interaction, and the opportunity to contribute to an important records management project in a professional environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Review, sort, scan, and organize physical documents and file cabinet contents according to established procedures.
- Destroy or prepare documents for destruction based on retention guidelines and internal requirements.
- Extract information from physical and electronic records and enter data accurately into Excel spreadsheets.
- Maintain strict confidentiality when handling sensitive, proprietary, or regulated documents.
- Track progress on assigned document management tasks and provide updates as needed.
- Prepare basic reports and respond to routine internal information requests.
