Manor College’s Program of Veterinary Technology is a face-to-face program accredited by the CVTEA-AVMA. The program is seeking dedicated and skilled Part-Time Credentialed Veterinary Technicians to serve as teaching assistants for the VT230 Surgical Assisting Labs during the Spring 2026 semester starting January 12, 2026.
Position Summary:
The Teaching Assistant’s position is an excellent opportunity to share your technical expertise and experience with motivated veterinary technology students in a hands-on, interactive lab. It involves assisting in one, two or all three of the labs held on Tuesday morning, Tuesday afternoon and Thursday morning throughout the spring semester. The position is responsible for supporting the students in a clinic like environment and ensuring the health and wellbeing of the animals undergoing surgery.
Specific Responsibilities & Essential Functions:
- Works closely with students during 3-hour laboratory sessions to help them learn and refine essential anesthesia and surgical assisting skills, including:
- Placing IV catheters
- Phlebotomy
- Administering medications
- Inducing, maintaining and monitoring anesthesia
- Supporting anesthesia recovery
- Demonstrates professionalism and a strong commitment to supporting student learning.
- Assisting students in developing strong time management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks depending on needs.
Line of Reports:
This position reports to the Small Animal Clinical Coordinator in the Veterinary Technology Program
Criteria & Qualifications:
- Credentialed Veterinary Technician (CVT or equivalent).
- Minimum 3 years of experiences in veterinary anesthesia, surgical assisting, or related clinical skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, especially when working with students.
- Attention to details and ability to manage the flow of a typical clinical surgery day.
- Good organizational skills.
