SENIOR SALES DIRECTOR

Mariane Ibrahim is seeking an accomplished Senior Sales Director to lead U.S. sales efforts from our Chicago gallery. This is a senior, revenue-driving role for a strategic and relationship-oriented sales leader with a strong network in the contemporary art market. The Senior Sales Director will drive new business development, deepen relationships with existing collectors and institutions, and lead the sales team at a senior level, all in close partnership with gallery leadership.
This position is intentionally structured to be sales-first: the Senior Sales Director's primary mandate is revenue generation, client relationships, and market growth.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Business Development and Client Relations
● Identify, cultivate, and convert new client relationships across private collectors, advisors, and institutions.
● Expand and deepen relationships with the gallery's existing collector base.
● Serve as a primary point of contact for key clients, ensuring a trusting experience.
Sales Leadership
● Lead the sales team from a senior level, setting direction, priorities, and performance standards for the other sales team members.
● Support sales team members (Directors and Assistants) in client management and deal execution, to support the broader sales initiatives and functionality of database, etc.
● Represent the gallery at art fairs (participating ones and ones the gallery is not present at, where a sales presence at events could be benefitial), exhibitions, institutional openings/biennales, and client-facing events as a senior sales presence.
Institutional Sales
● Partner with the Founder and Partner and Curatorial Director to develop and execute institutional sales strategies, including museum and public collection placements.
● Build and maintain relationships with curators, museum contacts, and institutional advisors to support both sales but also, institutional outreach alike.
Overall Planning
● Collaborate with senior leadership on holistic sales strategy, market positioning, and growth initiatives.
● Provide market intelligence and client insight to inform program planning and gallery strategy.
● Contribute to forecasting and sales planning in partnership with the Senior Director and Partner.
QUALIFICATIONS:
● 5+ years of experience in art sales, gallery leadership, or a closely related field, with a demonstrated track record of revenue growth.
● Established relationships with collectors, advisors, and/or institutions within the contemporary art market.
● Strong business development, negotiation, and account management skills.
● Proven experience leading or mentoring a sales team at a senior level.
● Fluency in French and Spanish is a strong plus.
● Polished, relationship-driven presence with the ability to represent the gallery at the highest level.
● Willingness to travel for art fairs, client meetings, and gallery events as needed.
