Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Staff Accountant. This is a hands-on role embedded within a collaborative accounting and finance team, offering meaningful day-to-day ownership of core general accounting functions.
The Staff Accountant will be responsible for the execution of general ledger activities, month-end close, and financial reporting, while also serving as a key backup resource to the Senior Financial Analyst on inventory accounting, standard cost analysis, and forecasting activities. This position is ideally suited for a manufacturing-focused accountant eager to deepen their technical skill set and grow in a structured, process-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
General Ledger & Month-End Close
- Prepare and post journal entries to ensure the accuracy and completeness of the general ledger monthly.
- Perform balance sheet account reconciliations, identifying and resolving reconciling items in a timely manner.
- Support the monthly close process, coordinating with cross-functional stakeholders to meet established close deadlines.
- Assist with balance sheet reviews and internal/external audit requests, providing supporting documentation and analysis as needed.
Financial Reporting & Analysis
- Prepare and distribute daily, weekly, and monthly financial reports to management and relevant business partners.
- Perform PAE (Pre-Authorized Expenditure) and GASE (General and Specific Expense) variance analysis, communicating findings and trends to the finance team.
- Support the Senior Financial Analyst with inventory-related reporting, standard cost revisions, and periodic forecasting activities.
Accounts Receivable & Credit Management
- Monitor and actively manage the accounts receivable aging, proactively following up on past-due balances to support healthy cash flow.
- Process credit memos and Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) transactions accurately and in accordance with established policies.
Inventory & Manufacturing Accounting
- Coordinate and maintain the revert/scrap scheduling and tracking process, including preparation and issuance of related invoices.
- Assist with standard cost system updates and reconciliation of inventory-related accounts to the general ledger.
Payroll Reconciliation
- Complete weekly and bi-monthly payroll reconciliations, ensuring data integrity between payroll systems and the general ledger.
Process Improvement
- Proactively identify opportunities to streamline, automate, or otherwise improve accounting processes and internal controls.
- Partner with IT and operations teams to evaluate and implement system enhancements supporting the accounting function.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting or Finance required.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of accounting experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and its application within a manufacturing or cost accounting context.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with strong Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, data analysis).
Preferred Qualifications
- 2-3 years of direct exposure to standard cost accounting systems within manufacturing or aerospace.
- Experience with ERP systems, particularly QAD, Oracle, or Hyperion; Visual Manufacturing Software experience is a plus.
- Familiarity with aerospace industry accounting standards and practices.
