Safety isn't a department. It's a culture.
Our client, a respected Connecticut manufacturer with more than a century of success, is seeking an experienced Safety Manager who enjoys being where the work happens—not behind a desk.
This is an opportunity for a safety professional who believes the best way to prevent injuries is by building relationships on the production floor, coaching employees, identifying risks before they become incidents, and creating an environment where everyone goes home safely at the end of every shift.
This is a highly visible role reporting closely with Human Resources and Operations and serving as the facility's safety expert.
What You'll Do
You'll lead all aspects of the plant's safety program for a busy aluminum manufacturing operation.
This is a hands-on position that includes:
- Leading daily safety initiatives throughout the manufacturing floor
- Conducting safety audits and facility inspections
- Maintaining OSHA compliance and required documentation
- Managing OSHA recordables and injury reporting
- Investigating incidents, near misses, and identifying root causes
- Developing corrective actions and ensuring follow-through
- Conducting employee safety training for all levels of the organization
- Leading confined space and other required regulatory training
- Facilitating safety committee meetings
- Participating in cross-functional steering committee meetings
- Working closely with Human Resources regarding Workers' Compensation, medical treatment, and OSHA recordables
- Partnering with Operations leadership to continuously improve plant safety performance
- Monitoring compliance while coaching employees and supervisors toward safer work practices
What Makes This Role Different
This is not an Environmental Health & Safety position.
Environmental compliance is managed separately, allowing this individual to focus almost entirely on employee safety, training, compliance, prevention, and continuous improvement.
This is also a department of one.
You'll have the autonomy to build relationships across the organization while serving as the company's primary safety resource.
