Job Summary: Manage and develop mass production tooling for new model launch activity.
Essential Functions:
- Coordinate New Tooling to domestic and LCC vendors
- Review new tool designs from vendors to ensure conformance to Tooling Standards and
production needs that will allow for a successful molding life of customer production and service.
- Trouble shoot mold, molding, and assembly problems.
- Complete maturation of new tooling using systems, skills, and tooling methods to meet customer
demand for timing, budget, and production facility needs
- Order spare parts as needed to aid in repairs and improvements of molds
- Estimate tooling costs for repairs and design changes and new tooling
- Assist and advise with quality issues concerning tooling and initiate work orders for changes.
- Complete all necessary documentation for Nifco and customer requirements for tooling
- Analyze lab data to determine compliance with specifications and determine methods to correct in
the mold if needed.
- Coordinate ECO’s, repairs, tunings using In-House tool shop and approved vendor base.
- Data entry in Tooling Database and Oracle for new tooling specification and work orders
- Perform and improve all daily duties that will adhere to department KPI’s
- Investigate and implement production and/or tooling improvements (Kaizen)
- Assist tool room personnel when hands on situations exist.
- Attend all new mold and sampling tryouts.
- Interact with other manufacturing, quality, tooling, project engineering and design department on
a constant basis.
- Represent the department by behaving in a positive manner that will enhance the success of the
Company.
Education:
- Degree in Engineering or related field preferred or 5-8 years of experience in a tooling
background
Preferred Skills/Experience:
- Must demonstrate ability to prioritize, meet stringent deadlines and project management skills.
- Excellent communication skills with vendors, customers, staff and other Nifco associates.
- Ability to construct and interpret charts, graphs and 2D/3D designs.
- Must be analytical (algebra, calculation of averages, etc.) and make sound decisions pertaining to
job functions with engineering principles and tight budgets in mind.
- Must be cooperative and work well in team environment.
- Must be able to travel overnight by auto and air.
- Behave in a positive manner that enhances the success of the company
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
Pay: $29.00 - $32.00 per hour
