The Components & Metal Building Sales Manager is responsible for growing sales of pre-engineered metal buildings and metal building components while developing new business opportunities and maintaining strong relationships with existing customers. This position combines technical estimating, customer relationship management, and business development to drive company growth.
The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of the metal building industry, including reading construction drawings, estimating projects, quoting building systems and components, and managing projects from initial inquiry through order completion. The successful candidate will be self-motivated, customer-focused, and committed to delivering exceptional service.
- Develop new business opportunities through prospecting, networking, referrals, and relationship building.
- Maintain and expand relationships with existing customers, contractors, developers, architects, and general contractors.
- Prepare accurate estimates and quotations for pre-engineered metal buildings and metal building components.
- Read and interpret architectural and structural drawings to determine project requirements.
- Work closely with engineering, drafting, production, and project management teams to ensure accurate pricing and successful project execution.
- Identify customer needs and recommend cost-effective building solutions.
- Follow up on quotations and negotiate pricing while maintaining company profitability.
- Manage multiple projects and sales opportunities simultaneously from lead generation through project completion.
- Utilize CRM software to maintain customer records, sales activity, and forecasting.
- Stay current on industry trends, products, building codes, and competitive offerings.
- Represent A-Lert Building Systems professionally at customer meetings, industry events, and trade shows.
- Collaborate with internal departments to ensure customer expectations are met regarding scheduling, deliveries, and project timelines.
- Meet or exceed established sales goals and business development objectives.
- Assist in resolving customer concerns promptly and professionally.
- Promote a positive image of A-Lert Building Systems through exceptional customer service and professionalism.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in pre-engineered metal building sales, metal building components, or a related construction sales field preferred.
- Strong knowledge of pre-engineered metal building systems and metal building components.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Experience estimating and quoting commercial construction projects.
- Strong business development and relationship-building skills.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation abilities.
- Highly organized with strong time management and multitasking skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and estimating or CRM software.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
Occasional travel will be required to visit customers, attend project meetings, and represent A-Lert Building Systems at industry events and trade shows.
