As an Independent Backflow Prevention Assembly Tester, you’ll represent KDL while providing professional backflow testing services for commercial, healthcare, educational, industrial, municipal, residential, and government clients throughout the Denver Metro, Front Range, and surrounding Colorado communities.
This position is ideal for professionals who enjoy working independently, communicating directly with customers, and maintaining the highest standards of professionalism, safety, and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities
- Perform certified backflow prevention assembly testing in accordance with all applicable Colorado regulations.
- Complete accurate electronic testing reports and required documentation.
- Maintain current backflow certification and annual calibration documentation.
- Communicate professionally with customers, property managers, municipalities, water providers, and facility representatives.
- Represent KDL professionally while on customer job sites.
- Follow all applicable OSHA, state, local, and customer safety requirements.
- Maintain testing equipment in proper working condition.
- Assist with cross-connection control surveys and related compliance services when applicable.
- Provide exceptional customer service while protecting public health through regulatory compliance.
- Maintain professional communication with KDL regarding scheduling, completed work, and customer needs.
Requirements
Applicants must possess:
- Current Colorado Backflow Prevention Assembly Tester certification or equivalent certification accepted within Colorado.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Reliable personal vehicle with current automobile insurance.
- Professional backflow prevention assembly test kit.
- Current annual calibration certificate for testing equipment.
- Smartphone or tablet capable of receiving work assignments and completing electronic reports.
- Basic hand tools required to perform backflow testing.
- Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) for job sites.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining KDL’s professional standards.
- Ability to lift approximately 50 pounds.
- Ability to pass customer-required background checks when required for schools, healthcare facilities, municipalities, government agencies, or other secured locations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Commercial backflow testing experience.
- Residential backflow testing experience.
- Cross-connection control program experience.
- Experience working with municipalities or water districts.
- Experience serving healthcare facilities, schools, HOAs, industrial facilities, commercial properties, or government entities.
- Experience using electronic testing and reporting software.
