Job description:
In this position you will directly support one of our Pre-litigation Attorneys. Among other things, you will need to maintain and organize client files, draft and proofread legal correspondence, communicate professionally with clients and insurance/medical providers, and schedule appointments while managing calendars. This position will require the candidate to closely partner with the designated attorney to work on cases, beyond a mere administrative support capacity. The attorney will continue to work with the Legal Assistant to drive cases forward and will rely solely upon the candidate for assistance.
This dynamic role involves providing comprehensive administrative and legal support to ensure smooth case management, thorough research, and efficient document handling. The ideal candidate will be proactive, resourceful, and possess a strong understanding of legal procedures, with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. Case managers with prior Personal Injury Firm experience are highly encouraged to apply. This position will build upon the previous experience.
Responsibilities
- Assist attorneys with case preparation, including drafting legal documents, contracts, and correspondence
- Conduct legal research using Westlaw, LexisNexis, and other legal research tools to support case strategies
- Manage and organize case files using document management systems such as Clio
- Review and analyze legal documents, including contracts, pleadings, and discovery materials
- Support project management tasks related to ongoing litigation or transactional matters
- Schedule appointments, interviews, and court appearances while maintaining meticulous calendars
- Proofread and transcribe legal documents to ensure accuracy and compliance with procedural law standards
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information while ensuring timely document review and filing
- Provide administrative support such as data entry, filing, phone etiquette, and general clerical duties
Requirements
- Education: Must have a College Degree (4 year or Associate’s Degree)
- Experience in a Personal Injury Law Firm preferred, but not necessary
- Office Experience is a must
- Paralegal experience or law office experience demonstrating familiarity with legal procedures and documentation
- Strong knowledge of legal terminology and Texas Rules of Civil Procedure
- Experience with case management software including Clio is highly desirable
- High proficiency with computers and online web applications—Inclusive of Microsoft Office Suite, Abode suite, and Zoom
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively in a busy environment
- Strong writing skills for drafting legal documents and correspondence
- Attention to detail for proofreading and document review tasks
- Effective communication skills with professional phone etiquette and interpersonal abilities
- Knowledge of procedural law standards and familiarity with document review processes
- Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining accuracy and professionalism
- Professionality meeting the standards of a legal professional
