Job Overview
Gulf Coast Medical Center is seeking an experienced Patient Care Coordinator to join our growing Dermatology Department. This role serves as the first point of contact for patients and plays a critical role in delivering an exceptional patient experience while supporting providers and clinical staff. You will be responsible for ensuring smooth clinic operations, accurate documentation, and adherence to health regulations. Your role is vital in fostering a welcoming environment and facilitating effective communication between patients and healthcare providers.
Duties
- Greet and assist patients upon arrival, ensuring a positive and professional first impression.
- Schedule appointments efficiently, managing the clinic calendar to optimize provider availability.
- Verify patient insurance information and assist with health insurance claims processing.
- Maintain accurate electronic health records (EHR) by documenting patient interactions, medical history, and treatment plans.
- Provide administrative support by handling patient inquiries, follow-up communications, and appointment reminders.
- Ensure compliance with health regulation policies and privacy standards such as HIPAA.
- Coordinate with medical staff to prepare patient charts and facilitate smooth clinical workflows.
- Manage inventory of medical supplies and office materials to ensure operational readiness.
Qualifications
- Prior experience working in a medical office environment, preferably within dermatology or related specialties.
- Strong knowledge of insurance verification.
- Proficiency in medical administrative support tasks including appointment scheduling, billing, collect copays and assist with referrals.
- Familiarity with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) eClinicalWorks and Phreesia systems for accurate data management.
- Knowledge of health insurance procedures, including claims submission and coverage verification.
- Excellent understanding of medical terminology relevant to dermatology care.
- Office experience that demonstrates organizational skills and attention to detail; dental office experience is considered a plus.
