Position Summary
JCCA is seeking an experienced, organized, and collaborative Human Resources Generalist to support employees and managers in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment. This role supports leave administration, HR operations, compliance, employee relations, and benefits while ensuring consistent and compliant HR practices.
Essential Responsibilities
Leave Administration
- Administer FMLA, ADA, New York Paid Family Leave, Workers’ Compensation, disability, military, and personal leaves.
- Review leave requests, confirm eligibility, and ensure compliance with applicable laws and agency policies.
- Coordinate reasonable accommodations, return-to-work plans, and transitional accommodations.
- Track leave usage, certifications, documentation, and return dates in the HRIS.
- Communicate leave rights and responsibilities and coordinate leave tracking and pay administration with Payroll.
- Provide HR leadership with updates on leave activity, trends, compliance, and operational impact.
HR Operations
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding HR policies, benefits, and employment matters while supporting the centralized HR inbox and partnering with HR Coordinators.
- Process employee lifecycle changes, including promotions, salary and status changes, terminations, and offboarding, ensuring accurate HRIS records, documentation, and communication.
- Participate in HR projects and process-improvement initiatives.
- Provide backup support to the HR team and perform other duties as assigned.
HR Compliance
- Track employee and provider credentials, licenses, and certifications and send renewal reminders at least 90 days before expiration.
- Maintain compliant employee records, prepare required reports, ensure workplace posters are current, and support internal and external audits.
Employee Relations
- Support employee relations matters, investigations, performance concerns, corrective-action documentation, and managers resolving workplace issues fairly and consistently.
Other Administrative Functions
- Support retirement and benefit enrollments and changes, respond to employee questions, and coordinate with vendors as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- At least five years of progressive HR experience, including two years of leave-administration experience.
- Experience in healthcare, nonprofit, social services, or a unionized environment preferred.
- Strong knowledge of FMLA, ADA, New York Paid Family Leave, Workers’ Compensation, and related employment laws.
- Proficiency with HRIS systems and Microsoft Office.
- Ability to build effective relationships with employees and leaders at all levels.
- SHRM-CP or PHR preferred.
Pay: $70,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
