Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Occupational Therapist to join our dynamic healthcare team. Duties
- Conduct comprehensive evaluations of patients’ physical, cognitive, sensory, and motor functions using established assessment tools.
- Develop tailored treatment plans aimed at improving activities of daily living (ADLs), mobility, coordination, and overall functional independence.
- Assist patients with ADLs such as dressing, grooming, feeding, and toileting to foster autonomy.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams—including speech therapists, physical therapists, physicians, and social workers—to coordinate care strategies.
- Facilitate discharge planning by preparing patients for transition back to home or community settings through education and resource linkage.
- Work with individuals with autism and other disabilities across pediatric and school-based settings to promote developmental progress.
- Provide therapy interventions in various environments such as acute care units, ICU settings, outpatient clinics, skilled nursing facilities, home health visits, and early intervention programs.
- Maintain accurate documentation of patient progress, care plans, and case management records in compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Apply physiology knowledge along with medical terminology and anatomy understanding to inform effective treatment approaches.
- Engage in patient education to empower individuals and families in managing health conditions post-treatment.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, and rehabilitation principles essential for effective therapy planning.
- Proven experience assisting with ADLs and implementing personalized care plans for diverse populations including geriatrics, pediatrics, and individuals with disabilities.
- Expertise in discharge planning and case management to ensure seamless transitions across care settings.
- Experience working in acute care environments such as ICU units or inpatient hospital wards is highly desirable.
- Skilled in early intervention strategies for children with developmental delays or autism spectrum disorder (ASD).
- Familiarity with outpatient clinic operations, skilled nursing facilities, home health services, and school-based therapy programs.
- Ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams while demonstrating excellent communication skills.
- Knowledge of occupational health practices relevant to workplace injury recovery or post-acute care scenarios.
- Understanding of speech therapy fundamentals can be an asset when working alongside speech-language pathologists on comprehensive patient care plans.
