We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Cultivation Technician to join our dynamic horticultural team. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting the growth and health of plants within greenhouse and outdoor cultivation environments. Your expertise will help ensure optimal crop production through precise environmental control, pest management, and adherence to standard operating procedures. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work hands-on with a variety of plants, contribute to sustainable cultivation practices, and develop your skills in horticulture and crop management.
Duties
- Assist with greenhouse and outdoor plant cultivation, including planting, pruning, trimming, and harvesting.
- Monitor environmental conditions such as temperature, humidity, light levels, and irrigation systems to maintain optimal growing environments.
- Manage irrigation systems to ensure proper watering schedules and prevent over or under-watering of crops.
- Implement integrated pest management strategies to control pests and diseases while minimizing chemical use.
- Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) for all cultivation activities to ensure consistency, safety, and quality standards are met.
- Maintain accurate records of crop growth stages, pest treatments, environmental data, and other relevant information.
- Support crop rotation, land preparation, and landscaping tasks as needed for outdoor work environments.
Skills
- Proven experience with greenhouse cultivation, outdoor gardening, or crop production environments.
- Strong knowledge of horticulture principles including plant identification, pest control, and crop management techniques.
- Familiarity with agricultural environmental control systems such as irrigation management and climate regulation tools.
- Ability to operate hand tools and gardening equipment safely and effectively.
- Basic math skills for measurements, calculations related to irrigation schedules, and environmental data analysis.
- Experience managing horticultural teams or working collaboratively in a team setting.
- Physical ability to perform heavy lifting, stand for extended periods, and perform outdoor work in various weather conditions.
