POSITION SUMMARY
The Bookkeeper plays a dual role supporting both the financial operations and day-to-day property management functions of a commercial real estate portfolio. This position is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, processing accounts payable and receivable. The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in accounting or bookkeeping alongside working knowledge of commercial property operations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Bookkeeping & Financial Management
Record and reconcile all income and expenses for assigned properties on a monthly basis
- Process accounts payable, including vendor invoices, utility bills, and service contracts; ensure timely and accurate payment
- Post tenant rent payments, CAM (Common Area Maintenance) charges, and other receivables; follow up on delinquencies as needed.
- Prepare monthly financial reports including income statements, balance sheets, rent rolls, and variance analyses for property owners
- Assist with annual CAM reconciliations as needed.
- Support year-end audit preparation and coordinate with external accountants as needed
- Maintain organized records of leases, amendments, certificates of insurance, and financial documentation
- Track security deposits and ensure compliance with applicable regulations
- Support the Property Manager in preparing ownership reports, budgets, and reforecasts
- Assist in lease administration, including abstracting lease terms, tracking critical dates (expirations, options, rent escalations), and updating lease tracking systems
- Perform general office duties including scheduling, phone coverage, and supply management
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
3+ years of bookkeeping, accounting, or property management experience; commercial real estate experience strongly preferred
- Proficiency in accounting software (Yardi, MRI, AppFolio, QuickBooks, or similar)
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
- Solid understanding of basic accounting principles (debits/credits, accrual vs. cash basis, reconciliation)
- Familiarity with commercial lease structures including NNN, modified gross, and full-service leases
- Understanding of CAM reconciliation, load factors, and rentable vs. usable square footage concepts
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or related field
- Familiarity with lease administration platforms (e.g., Yardi)

Pay: $50,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
