Responsibilities
- Act as the primary liaison for new patient referrals, ensuring timely and accurate processing of all incoming requests
- Verify insurance coverage, including managed care plans, insurance eligibility, and benefits using insurance verification protocol
- Coordinate with medical providers and offices to schedule initial appointments and facilitate smooth communication channels
- Maintain organized records of all referral activities, updates, and correspondence within the medical records system
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA standards and protect patient privacy at all times while managing sensitive information
Requirements
- Prior experience in a medical office setting or healthcare environment is highly preferred
- Strong knowledge of managed care processes, insurance verification procedures.
- Familiarity with medical terminology, medical records management, and healthcare documentation standards
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask efficiently in a busy office setting
- Demonstrated understanding of HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality and security of patient information
