Duties
- Prepare and assemble a variety of sushi, sashimi, and other Japanese dishes with precision and artistry
- Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene, and cleanliness throughout the kitchen
- Plan and develop sushi menus that balance tradition with creativity, catering to diverse tastes
- Handle all aspects of food preparation including slicing fish, rolling sushi, and garnishing plates
- Ensure all ingredients are fresh, properly stored, and rotated according to safety standards
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to coordinate meal preparation and maintain efficient workflow
- Serve dishes with professionalism and enthusiasm, ensuring guest satisfaction at all times
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Sushi Chef or in a similar culinary role within fine dining or Japanese cuisine settings
- Strong knife skills and expertise in food handling, preparation, and presentation techniques
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and proper sanitation practices
- Experience with menu planning, catering, and food industry standards
- Excellent skills in food service, cooking, and meal preparation in a fast-paced environment
- Background in dietary department or dietary aide experience is a plus but not required
- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
