Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Travel Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Emergency Room (ER) team on day shifts in Utica, NY. This vital role involves providing high-quality emergency care to diverse patient populations in a fast-paced hospital environment. Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive emergency nursing care to patients presenting with acute medical conditions, trauma, or critical illnesses in the ER setting.
- Conduct thorough patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and medical history documentation.
- Administer medications, including IV infusions and injections, following proper aseptic techniques and hospital protocols.
- Utilize advanced clinical skills such as airway management, suturing, catheterization, and ventilator management as required.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans aligned with best practices and hospital standards.
- Document all patient interactions accurately within Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems while maintaining HIPAA compliance.
- Monitor patient progress continuously, respond swiftly to emergencies, and escalate care when necessary.
- Perform diagnostic evaluations such as laboratory tests or imaging procedures like CT scans when indicated.
- Support triage processes by prioritizing patient needs efficiently upon arrival.
- Maintain infection control standards and ensure sterile processing of medical equipment.
Requirements
- Valid RN license in the state of New York or eligibility for licensure transfer.
- Minimum of 2 years of ER experience in a Level I or Level II trauma center preferred.
- Proficiency with EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner; experience with EMR/EHR management is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated expertise in critical care procedures including airway management, IV insertion, medication administration, and trauma medicine.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and diagnostic evaluation techniques.
- Experience working with diverse patient populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, individuals with disabilities, and those requiring behavioral health support.
- Certifications such as Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) are required.
- Familiarity with ICD coding (ICD-10/ICD-9), laboratory procedures, specimen collection/processing, and infection control protocols.
- Excellent communication skills coupled with the ability to work effectively under pressure in high-stakes environments.
