Education – Completion or graduation of an accredited Respiratory Therapy Program from an accredited college or university.
Experience – Prefer five (5) years as a respiratory therapist with two (2) years supervisory experience.
Licenses & Certification – Incumbent is required to possess current licensure by the Oklahoma State Board of Medical Licensure and Supervision. Must have current CPR certification.
Knowledge & Skills –
Under executive direction, coordinates department activities including budget development, quality assurance and project management. Is responsible for participating in staffing activities, for directing and evaluating respiratory therapy staff; for data collection and reporting; manages contracts and negotiations, and manages compliance initiatives. Responsible for oversight of equipment acquisition, deployment and maintenance management. Provides technical assistance and guidance to all levels of management. This is an Exempt position as applicable to the provisions of the FLSA.
Work is performed in both an office setting and in an ambulatory or inpatient health center environment. There is possible exposure to infectious communicable disease, potentially hazardous chemicals, and biohazardous materials. Incumbent must be aware of all risks involved, and be willing to take precautions as required and requested. Special attire may be required as protection against infection.
Work requires long periods of standing, walking and office work. Occasional bending, lifting, stretching and positioning patients. Ability to lift in excess of 50 pounds is required to perform positional duties. Incumbent must be able to cope with constant changes in a stressful environment.
Satisfactory job performance will be determined by successful execution of the following:
Participates in the strategic planning of the department; plans, directs, and coordinates department-wide activities; provides advice, counsel, and education to the staff.
Duties to include work schedule maintenance, department Quality Improvement/ Performance, weekly time off/payroll approvals, maintaining current department communication, obtaining quotes for equipment purchase. Collaboration with facilities management and biomed to maintain proper equipment function.
Must identify and correct mechanical malfunctions occurring with equipment, including the disassembly, reassembly, safety checks and operational checks.
