Job Summary:
Veterinary nurse position available at new, state-of-the-art veterinary hospital. We perform exceptional veterinary care and advanced surgical procedures. Our owners prioritize patient care and client communication. Candidates must have a strong work ethic and work well with other staff.
Duties:
- Provide compassionate, high-quality nursing care to hospitalized and outpatient patients.
- Assist veterinarians with examinations, diagnostics, treatments, and surgical procedures.
- Monitor anesthesia and recovery, ensuring patient safety and comfort.
- Perform venipuncture, catheter placement, laboratory sample collection, and in-house laboratory testing.
- Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed.
- Obtain and record accurate patient histories, vital signs, and medical records.
- Educate clients on medications, post-operative care, nutrition, and preventive health.
- Prepare and maintain surgical suites, treatment areas, and exam rooms.
- Assist with dental procedures, including radiographs and prophylaxis (if applicable).
- Operate and maintain diagnostic equipment, including digital radiography and laboratory analyzers.
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation.
- Safely handle and restrain animals using low-stress handling techniques whenever possible.
- Accurately fill, label, and verify medications according to hospital protocols.
- Collaborate with doctors and team members to provide efficient, exceptional patient care.
- Thrive in a fast-paced environment while effectively prioritizing multiple tasks.
- Contribute to a positive, respectful, and supportive team culture.
- Participate in continuing education and maintain current technical knowledge.
Experience:
- Previous experience as a veterinary technician/nurse/assistant or in a related field
- Strong knowledge of veterinary terminology and anatomy
- Experience with animal restraint, animal medical care, animal surgical care
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment and multitasking when necessary
- Previous position where strong communication and interpersonal skills were needed
Skills:
- Ability to lift, push, and pull equipment and veterinary patients, including giant dog breeds
- Ability to perform pet restraint and handling
-Commitment to providing high-quality pet care and exceptional customer service
- Knowledge of veterinary terminology
- Ability to medicate, TPR, assess postop incisions, bandage patients, run in-house bloodwork, perform ordered rads, etc
