Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Estimator with a strong background in structural steel and miscellaneous metals. This role is responsible for preparing accurate, competitive cost estimates for fabrication and field installation projects. The ideal candidate must have hands-on experience estimating both steel fabrication and field labor, and the ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and project requirements in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and analyze construction drawings, specifications, and bid documents
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for structural steel and miscellaneous metals projects
- Accurately quantify material takeoffs and apply current steel pricing
- Develop fabrication and field labor estimates, including erection, welding, and installation costs
- Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor pricing
- Identify cost risks, value engineering opportunities, and scope gaps
- Maintain and update estimating databases, productivity rates, and historical cost data
- Collaborate with project managers, detailers, and operations teams during preconstruction
- Support project handoff to operations after award
Qualifications
- 3–5 years of estimating experience in structural steel and/or miscellaneous metals (required)
- Proven experience with both fabrication estimating and field labor estimating (required)
- Strong knowledge of steel construction methods, materials, and industry standards
- Ability to read and interpret structural drawings and shop plans
- Proficiency in estimating software and takeoff tools (e.g., Bluebeam, Tekla PowerFab, or similar)
- Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities
- Effective communication and teamwork skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working for a steel fabricator or erector
- Advanced Excel skills
Compensation

Pay: $60,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
