SUMMARY
The Field Technician is responsible for providing a wide variety of skilled and unskilled tasks relating to repairs and maintenance of commercial buildings in a 24/7 industry that requires various shifts. Tasks in this sense may include troubleshooting, repair, maintenance, alteration, installation, fabrication, and construction which require the utilization of skills in problem-solving, budgeting, teamwork, communication, giving attention to detail, and abiding by safety guidelines to promote smooth operations and the completion of tasks in a timely manner.
The Field Technician works within a variety of building trades in the repair, adjustment, and maintenance of building systems, equipment, fixtures, and finishes. The Field Technician is distinguished by the performance of the full range of duties as assigned. Technicians at this level should only receive occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise and are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies within the assigned work.
RESPONSIBILITIES
· Perform repairs, adjustments, and maintenance of the interior and exterior of commercial buildings and grounds which include but are not limited to: plumbing, electrical, doors, windows, drywall, tile, etc.
· Perform carpentry tasks, which include repairing furniture, building cabinets, repairing doors, and performing remodeling service. Painting interior and exterior building surfaces, fixtures, and furniture.
· Operate a variety of tools, power equipment, and aerial man lifts.
· Operate a variety of construction and maintenance equipment to load trucks and move materials and equipment.
· Diagnose and troubleshoot problems and expedite repairs and identify potential issues and correct or report as needed.
· Follow all safety and compliance guidelines of the company, client, state, and local municipality.
· Make routine checks and inspections of personal, company, and rented equipment, and report problems to the supervisor.
· Maintain records of all repair and maintenance activities, parts used, supplies needed, and other required records.
· Researching and identifying prospective local suppliers and procurement.
· Follow app-based procedures for all work orders assigned.
· Maintain a clean and presentable appearance, and act with professionalism.
· Assist in creating a positive and supportive work environment; enforcing a safe workplace; establish a culture of teamwork and communication; create a workplace that promotes the organization.
· Maintain your vehicle: oil changes, brakes, regular maintenance service, cleanliness, and other requested tasks.
· Performing other duties, tasks, responsibilities and or projects assigned by your Supervisor.
REQUIREMENTS
· Knowledge and understanding of different construction methods, tools, materials, and equipment used in a commercial building.
· Knowledge of plumbing installation and repair, electrical installation and repair, carpentry, and metal work.
· Knowledge and implementation of safety and accident prevention practices.
· Operation of commercial electrical and plumbing systems.
· Operation and use common hand tools, power tools, and equipment as well as routine checks and inspections of hand tools, power tools, and equipment.
· Ability to work various shifts throughout the week, including swing shift and graveyard shift.
· Ability to decipher all materials and parts needed to complete Work Orders.
· Ability to demonstrate an acceptable degree of skills in those areas identified.
· Ability to sit and or stand for prolonged periods of time.
· Ability to work in all weather conditions.
· Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
· Ability to work well independently or part of a team.
· Demonstrate safe driving and working habits.
· Maintain accurate records.
· Clear communication skills both verbally and in writing
· Fast-paced, highly efficient work productivity with attention to detail.
· Experience using a Smartphone and the camera features.
· Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with individuals and groups who come from diverse backgrounds and represent members of the public, coworkers, and/or vendors.
· Must possess a driver’s license valid and have an acceptable driving record.
· Must be able to pass a post-offer physical abilities assessment.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
· This position requires extensive traveling in your region assigned. Occasionally, there will be additional travel outside of your assigned region. A vehicle is provided for this position.
