Concrete Finisher

General Description:
The Concrete Finisher must work safely and productively on various sized concrete construction and/or civil and infrastructure project sites. A successful candidate in this role must be highly motivated and willing to complete any task assigned, along with performing the essential duties of the Concrete Finisher position. All employees are expected to communicate effectively, build relationships with other team members, and use good judgment. The Concrete Finisher is expected to have the ability to perform all duties of the positions preceding it, while being able to complete any other tasks assigned.
Key Responsibilities:
- Use and monitor quality and production of straight edge and “magic screed” to level/shape freshly poured concrete
- Review pour plans and inspect forms, subgrade, and embeds before placement
- Assist with truck chute and pump hose to place fresh concrete
- Use “edger”, jointers, and straight edge to edge and joint concrete floors as required
- Create custom textures like rough/fine brooms, stamping, or exposed aggregate
- Operate light and advanced equipment (e.g., bull floats, vibrators, trowel machines, etc.) to level and treat concrete slab surfaces
- Set, align, and brace concrete forms to ensure the required depth and slope are achieved before pouring.
- Ensure proper form elevations are set utilizing a site or laser level
- Applying curing and sealing compounds.
- Patch voids, chip away rough spots, and grind high surfaces using power grinders or abrasive tools
- Inspect finished surfaces for quality and spec compliance (FF/FL tolerances)
- Layout and sawcut control joints in freshly poured concrete slabs
- Coach and trains apprentices and Concrete Finisher Technicians
- Clean and maintain all hand and power tools used to place and finish fresh concrete
Requirements:
- Have at least 3 years of experience placing and finishing concrete
- Show up on time with proper attire, tools, and safety equipment to complete your daily work tasks.
- Carry own tools including toolbelt, floats, trowels, edgers, bucket, sledge hammer, etc
- Must be very familiar with riding trowel machines and the techniques of finishing a flat floor
- Control mixer trucks, pace, and correct concrete quantities
- Ability to read and interpret drawings
- Current valid driver’s license and pre-employment drug screen
- ACI Concrete Flatwork Finisher certification a plus
- Full-time, Monday–Friday with early starts; overtime available
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and work outdoors in all weather conditions
