Generator Diesel Technician Opportunity Summary:
Love tearing an engine down to the block and building it back better than new? As a Diesel Engine Shop Technician at W.W. Williams, you’ll perform overhauls, rebuilds, and failure analysis on diesel and gaseous engines right here in our shop — no field calls, no service truck, just quality work on the bench with an experienced team behind you.
If you take pride in precise teardowns, accurate diagnostics, and rebuilds that run right the first time, we want to talk to you. This opportunity is immediate — apply today!
Job Duties:
-
Disassemble, inspect, evaluate, and rebuild diesel and gaseous engines from teardown to reassembly in the shop.
-
Perform accurate failure analysis and troubleshooting using electronic diagnostic tools.
-
Determine parts requirements and qualify components for reuse per manufacturer reusability guidelines.
-
Build a repair plan — operations and estimated repair hours — and document parts and labor accurately on work orders.
-
Clean, inspect, and recondition components; complete clear inspection and teardown reports.
-
Load-test rebuilt engines and verify performance before return to the customer.
-
Service supporting systems — fuel, cooling, lubrication, air, and electrical.
-
Keep a safe, clean, organized work area and follow all company, safety, and EPA standards.
Work Experience & Qualifications:
-
2+ years of diesel engine repair and overhaul experience, or equivalent training and experience.
-
Experience with Cat, Cummins, John Deere, Isuzu, or MTU engines is a plus.

-
Basic computer skills with the ability to use diagnostic programs.
-
One or more factory/OEM certifications preferred — company-paid training is available to grow them.

Your own hand tools (we back you with a Tool Replacement Insurance program).
-
Transitioning military, trade-school graduates, and apprentice-level techs ready to grow are encouraged to apply.
