Why does the job exist?
This position develops strategic plans to address Title V Maternal Child Health performance measures and key prevention activities to improve the health of New Mexico, mothers, parents, infants and children. A Key responsibility is to coordinate the inter-agency safe sleep collaborative and strategic planning process with community partners.
How does it get done?
¿ Develop infant safe sleep messaging, materials and trainings with a focus on Tribal and other BIPOC communities
¿ Deliver safe sleep trainings and train-the-trainer education with public health and regional partners
¿ Coordinate or co-coordinate a safe sleep collaborative and strategic plan
¿ In coordination with Title V director and staff, develop work plans for breastfeeding promotion, maternal and infant food security and nutrition
¿ Work with Family Health Bureau and WIC programs to develop infographics, key health promotion messaging and educational materials for maternal and infant health and wellness
¿ Participate in a team to develop fetal count the kicks media and programming
¿ Participate in existing data collection and analysis for PRAMS and PRAMS-like surveys
¿ Collaborate with MCH Epidemiology staff to develop new surveillance through community listening sessions and formal input

Minimum Qualification
Associate's degree in social work, Psychology, Guidance and Counseling, Education, Sociology, Criminal Justice, Criminology, Family Studies/Services, Social Sciences, or Human Services and one (1) year of experience as a social work assistant and/or in social or community coordination, working with communities, working on health or social service-related matters, social work/case management experience, and/or behavioral health care. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling three (3) years may substitute for the required education and experience.
Employment Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License.
Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification within six (6) months of date of hire as a condition of continued employment.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in an office setting: late hours and weekends work may be required. Will be exposed to regular periods of video display terminal and keyboard usage and stressful situations. Travel may be required. Incumbent will work under stress and frequent time constraints. Must have own mode of transportation. Incumbent may be required to furnish a personal vehicle for carrying out assignments.
