The Sanitation Specialist will perform regular cleaning of manufacturing areas. Sanitation/Janitorial Personal will keep the processing areas (raw and pasteurized areas), and compactor areas clean and tidy. Cleaning activities include, but not limited to cleaning entrance hallways, ceiling, vents, garbage cans, floors, walls, drains, piping, tables, hoses, plastic pallets and surrounding grounds. Replenishing supplies, paper towel and soap dispensers in the lunch room and restrooms, along with keeping the areas orderly and restoring them back to sanitary conditions if needed. Ensuring timely removal of trash from bins and emptying it out into the compactor. All tasks associated with sanitary maintenance of the compactor areas and facility grounds are carried out routinely as directed. Job duties must be completed diligently and documented as required.
Additionally, the Sanitation/Janitorial Personal will be responsible in maintaining proper inventory of all supplies for the utility room and the chemical room.
This position is not limited to above description as other responsibilities may include tasks, projects, or directions given by Management.
Responsibilities:
- Freshen up breakroom daily
- Refill paper towel/soap/sanitizer dispensers in processing rooms, lunch room and restrooms
- Clean floors of processing rooms (raw and pasteurized, exception is filler room and packing floors)
- Clean drains in processing rooms (raw and pasteurized, exception is filler room and packing floors)
- Clean up standing water
- Routine cleaning of plastic pallets
- Cleaning and emptying garbage cans and carts regularly
- Cleaning and maintaining the compactor area in a sanitary condition
- Cleaning facility grounds to ensure removal of trash, debris and residue
- Perform routine inventory of cleaning and chemical supplies
- Maintain cleaning tools and chemicals
- Conduct routine inspections as trained
- Observe and report pest activity to supervisor
- Maintenance and implement components of SQF System (Food Safety and Food Quality) as required
- Must follow all proper Good Manufacturing Practices
- Flexible to work day or night shifts as required
- Fill out Daily/Weekly/Monthly sanitation checklist
- Follow up with Monthly self-inspection findings
- Follow up with Weekly Listeria Cleaning checklist
Work/Education/Experience Requirements:
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience working in a food manufacturing plant or similar environment
- High school diploma or General Education Development (GED) or equivalent Forklift operator certified (preferred)
Skills & Abilities:
- Ability to accurately follow instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform tasks
- Able to report issues and provide update to the supervisor
- Strong communication skills with ability to read and write in English
- Basic Arithmetic skills
- Detail oriented and professional
- Ability to learn new tasks and concepts
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to prioritize and execute tasks efficiently
Training/Licensing/Certification Requirements:
- Basic GMP/Food Safety Training (preferred)
- Forklift operation certification (preferred)
Work Task Requirements (Safety Requirements):
- Use of Personal Protective equipment (gloves, goggles) as necessary
- Proper footwear required to prevent slipping, tripping and/or falling
- Must use proper lifting techniques
- Able to work in both warm and cold environments for limited periods of time
