DOOR HANGER DISTRIBUTOR — INDEPENDENT CONTRACTOR BEST Sprinkler Co. · Draper, Utah
BEST Sprinkler Co. is a locally owned and operated sprinkler repair company in Draper, Utah. We hire independent contractors to distribute door hangers to single-family homes around the area.
This is a simple, flexible job — you choose your own days and hours — but it is physically demanding, and we pay well for people who are consistent and show up often. Your pay rate climbs the more you distribute, and the position will likely continue through the winter (with some slower stretches when it snows or drops below freezing).
Please read this entire posting carefully — it is also your rulebook. It answers almost every question you’ll have, and your training is essentially a check on how well you know it.
You are an independent contractor, not an employee. You set your own schedule and pace, use your own vehicle and phone, and are responsible for figuring out where your assigned routes cover.
PAY
You’re paid $27.5–$35 for every 100 door hangers you distribute. The more you put out in a week, the higher your rate climbs. Your rate is based on your total for the week.
- First 500: $27.5.00 per 100
- 500–1,000: $30.00 per 100
- 1,000–1,500: $32.00 per 100
- 1,500–2,000: $33.50 per 100
- 2,000 and up: $35.00 per 100
Weekly bonus: If you reach 3,000 door hangers in a single week, every hanger you distributed that week — including the ones in the lower brackets — is bumped up to the top rate of $35 per 100.
How the brackets work: Each portion of your weekly total is paid at its own rate. Example: if you distribute 1,500 hangers in a week, you earn $25/100 on the first 500, $27.50/100 on the next 500, and $30/100 on the final 500.
You must finish all 500 hangers in a route to be paid for it. If you distribute fewer than 500 and decide not to finish, you will not be paid for that route. Sending someone else to complete a half-done route is inefficient, makes the work harder, and messes up our data tracking.
Payment method: Once your Strava routes are confirmed (usually within 1–48 hours), you’ll be paid by Venmo, CashApp, or Zelle.
THE WORK WEEK
The pay week runs from Sunday at 8:00 PM to the following Sunday at 7:59 PM — no exceptions.
If we run out of door hangers, it can stop your progress for the week. We do our best to keep them stocked, but running out is not a reason to roll your weekly total into the next week or to make any other exception. Consistent workers will allow us to track when we need to order them.
SCHEDULE & COMMITMENT
- Work as many or as few days as you want, any day of the week. There is no set commitment.
- We’re looking for consistent, frequent contractors.
- The position will likely continue through the winter, though it may get patchy when it snows or temperatures drop below freezing.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
- A vehicle.
- A working phone with good battery life (bring a portable charger if you need one).
- The Strava app installed — the free version is fine, no paid subscription required.
- Recommended: some form of door-to-door transportation such as a scooter, bike, or skateboard.
HOW A WORKDAY WORKS: PICKUP, STRAVA & THE ONE-HOUR CYCLE
Tracking every route with Strava is the single most important rule of this job. We visually back-check your routes while you work, and because many hangers come down quickly, we have to verify them in real time. No Strava route means no proof, which means no pay.
Here’s the cycle you’ll repeat:
- Pick up your door hangers at 7:30 AM from the pickup location.
- When you start distributing, begin a Strava route and set a one-hour timer.
- No single Strava route may run longer than one hour — that’s what the timer is for.
- When the timer goes off, stop and “finish” your Strava route, then send the completed route to Ethan.
- Start fresh — begin a new Strava route, reset your one-hour timer, keep distributing, and send each route when its hour is up.
- Repeat until all of your hangers are out.
- Take breaks or lunch whenever you like. Any time you stop — restroom, meal, or any reason — stop your Strava route and send it, then start a new route and timer when you return.
- When you’ve finished all the hangers from your most recent pickup, let us know so we can count your routes house by house.
WHICH HOMES GET DOOR HANGERS
Hang door hangers on single-family residences only. Do not hang them on any of the following:
- Townhomes
- Apartments
- HOA-maintained yards
- Businesses and stores (unless it’s a house)
- Duplexes and triplexes
- Any other property that isn’t a single-family home
HOW TO PLACE A DOOR HANGER
- On the handle: Hang it on the door handle with the front facing out.
- If the handle won’t work: Stand it up next to the door, against the door frame, on either the left or right side, with the front facing out. Do not lean it against the door, and do not tuck it between the door and the frame.
- Fenced front doors: If the front door is behind a fence, do not enter the fence — that is trespassing. Hang it on the part of the fence where people go in and out (the gate).
Never put door hangers in mailboxes. This is against the law. Homeowners have reported it to law enforcement before. There is no situation in which we will pay you to do this.
STAYING IN YOUR ROUTE
- Routes are assigned in increments of 500. They can be confusing at times, and as an independent contractor it’s your job to figure out where your route covers.
- Most routes contain between 510 and 530 homes, but you only need to put out 500 door hangers per route.
- For your first few pickups (at least the first three), you’ll receive 500 door hangers at a time. You can pick up more per trip later, but that comes after we’ve built a trusting relationship.
- Do not hang on any homes outside your assigned route. Other contractors work the routes right next to yours. Going outside your boundaries creates problems for everyone and disrupts our tracking. This one really matters.
GETTING PAID
To be paid, you need to:
- Distribute all of the hangers you received at your last pickup, and
- Send all of the matching Strava routes, recorded according to the rules above. We count them house by house.
Once your Strava routes are confirmed — usually within 1 to 48 hours — you’ll be paid by Venmo, CashApp, or Zelle.
YOUR FIRST DAY & TRAINING
- Schedule it: Text Ethan to schedule your start day — any day works (see contact below).
- Be on time: Be standing in front of the porch no later than 7:30 AM. If you’re late, we’ll ask you to come back another day.
- Don’t knock: Do not knock on the door — other people live there. If no one is present when you arrive, just text us.
- Training: Ethan will walk you through a training covering the basic rules in this posting. Your training is essentially a check on how well you know these rules, so read them before you arrive.
- After day one: You’ll pick up your hangers from the table out front at the same address. Only take what you asked for and what was agreed on — don’t grab more.
