We are seeking a dedicated and versatile Expanded Duty/Functions Dental Assistant to join our dynamic dental team. Responsibilities
-Assist dentists during a wide range of procedures in pediatric dentistry with precision and confidence.
-Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up necessary equipment such as dental x-ray machines and ensuring all clinical tools meet infection prevention standards.
-Take and develop high-quality dental radiographs (X-ray) while adhering to HIPAA regulations and safety protocols.
-Manage patient records accurately using electronic medical record (EMR), Dentrix, ensuring compliance with clinical confidentiality policies.
-Provide comprehensive patient care by taking vital signs, reviewing medical histories, explaining procedures clearly, and addressing patient questions with professionalism.
-Perform dental instrument processing and sterilization procedures following strict aseptic techniques to prevent infection transmission.
-Support chairside assisting with four-handed dentistry techniques, ensuring smooth workflow during complex procedures such as oral surgery or endodontics. -Perform children's periodic exam and prophylaxis appointments -Accurately and precisely place sealants on permanent molars
Requirements
Proven experience in dental assisting within a busy dental clinic environment; experience with pediatric dentistry is highly desirable.
Proficiency in EMR system, Dentrix; familiarity with patient management software is essential.
Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical documentation, and medical coding to accurately record procedures and diagnoses.
Certification in X-ray technology and proficiency in dental x-ray techniques.
Strong understanding of infection control protocols including sterilization procedures, aseptic technique, and healthcare infection prevention standards.
Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients of all ages and backgrounds while maintaining clinical confidentiality at all times.
Ability to perform vital signs assessment, medical imaging, and assist with various dental procedures confidently while adhering to all safety guidelines.
