JOB The City of Beloit has an exciting employment opportunity as a General Mechanic working with the Community Development Department in the Transit Division. The General Mechanic will be working with advanced mechanical work that includes the most technical diagnostic, repair, and rebuilding work (e.g. complete engine, transmission, or component unit disassembly, rebuilding, re-assembly, testing, etc.) in reference to motor coaches. Incumbents are expected to perform the full range of mechanical repairs necessary to maintain transit vehicles and equipment within acceptable work standards with a minimum of supervision. The position is also responsible for driving city buses, trucks and related duties when required and other duties may be assigned.
This is a safety sensitive position as defined by city policy and the United States Department of Transportation (USDOT)/Federal Transit Administration (FTA).
