Job Overview
Role Description:
This position is responsible for providing exceptional design services while developing and managing customer relationships from the initial consultation through project completion. The ideal candidate combines strong kitchen and bath design skills with a natural ability to sell. In addition to designing kitchens and bathrooms, this position will actively promote and sell flooring and complementary products to increase project value and provide customers with a complete remodeling solution. The successful candidate will be comfortable working with homeowners, contractors, builders, and other industry professionals and will have a strong understanding of design, product selection, pricing, project coordination, and sales. They must possess the ability to utilize strong communication, follow up, product knowledge and relationship building to close sales.
General Responsibilities and Duties:
- Meet with customers to understand their needs, style preferences, budget, and project goals.
- Develop creative and functional kitchen and bath designs.
- Prepare floor plans, elevations, renderings, layouts, and product selections.
- Recommend cabinetry, countertops, hardware, plumbing fixtures, showers, and other complementary products.
- Provide professional product presentations and guide customers through the selection process.
- Prepare accurate quotes, proposals, and project specifications.
- Make design recommendations that balance aesthetics, functionality, quality, and budget.
- Maintain strong communication with customers throughout the design and sales process.
- Coordinate with contractors, installers, vendors, and internal departments as necessary.
- Follow projects through ordering and delivery to help ensure a positive customer experience.
- Actively introduce flooring options to kitchen, bath, remodeling, and other customers.
- Sell LVP, LVT, laminate, hardwood, tile, and other flooring products.
- Identify opportunities to add flooring to kitchen and bath projects.
- Measure or coordinate measurements when appropriate.
- Recommend flooring based on customer lifestyle, design, performance, and budget.
- Prepare flooring estimates and proposals.
- Explain product features, warranties, installation requirements, and maintenance.
- Coordinate flooring samples and product selections.
- Work with installers and internal departments to ensure accurate orders and smooth project execution.
- Develop additional flooring sales through existing customer relationships, referrals, contractors, and repeat business.
- Take ownership of the customer from initial inquiry through the sale.
- Consistently follow up with prospects and outstanding quotes.
- Develop new customer relationships and generate leads.
- Build relationships with contractors, builders, remodelers, designers, real estate professionals, and other referral sources.
- Identify opportunities to cross-sell kitchens, baths, flooring, countertops, tile, and other products.
- Achieve or exceed established sales and gross-profit goals.
- Maintain an active sales pipeline and accurately document customer activity.
- Participate in showroom promotions, events, marketing initiatives, and community activities.
- Ask for referrals and develop repeat business from satisfied customers.
- Maintain a strong knowledge of current products, trends, pricing, and competitive offerings.
- Provide professional, welcoming, and consultative showroom experience.
- Establish trust and credibility with customers.
- Listen carefully to customer needs and provide solutions rather than simply selling products.
- Set clear expectations regarding pricing, lead times, installation, and project requirements.
- Handle customer concerns professionally and work toward timely resolutions.
- Maintain ongoing communication so customers remain informed throughout their project.
The Designer is expected to continuously develop knowledge of:
- Kitchen cabinetry
- Bathroom cabinetry and vanities
- Countertops
- Flooring
- Tile
- Plumbing fixtures
- Hardware
- Kitchen and bath accessories
- Installation requirements
- Current design trends
- Product specifications and warranties
- Pricing and gross-profit requirements
Supervisory Responsibilities:
None
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Previous kitchen and bath design experience
- Previous flooring sales experience strongly preferred.
- Strong sales and customer service skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
- Valid driver’s license and insured motor vehicle
- Ability to read floor plans and understand measurements.
- Ability to work with design software; experience with 2020 Design
- Ability to prepare accurate quotes and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong computer skills.
- Ability to work independently while also collaborating with a team.
- Positive, professional, and energetic attitude.
- Strong desire to achieve sales goals and grow the business.
Education and Experience:
· High School graduate or GED; associate or bachelor’s degree in interior design a plus
· 2-5 years’ experience with kitchen/bath design preferred
· 2-5 years’ demonstrated kitchen/bath design sales experience
Physical Requirements:
· Ability to bend, kneel, squat.
· Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds on occasion.

Schedule:
- Monday through Friday, minimum 45 hrs with occasional evenings, weekends, showroom events, and customer appointments based on business needs.
Pay Range: Salaried,Commensurate with experience
Supplemental Pay: Commission and performance based bonus pay available as well as sales and gross-profit incentives.
