Duties
- Assist licensed pharmacists in preparing and dispensing medications, including compounded medications, following aseptic techniques.
- Conduct patient intake, verify prescriptions, and ensure accurate data entry into pharmacy software systems while maintaining strict patient confidentiality.
- Fit diabetic shoes for patients by assessing foot measurements, providing expert guidance on footwear options, and ensuring proper fit to support foot health.
- Educate patients on medication administration, drug regulation policies, and proper use of diabetic footwear to promote optimal health outcomes.
- Ensure compliance with state and federal pharmacy laws, pharmaceutical regulatory standards, and community pharmacy protocols.
- Support inventory management by monitoring medication stock levels, managing pharmaceutical calculations for dosing accuracy, and maintaining proper storage conditions.
- Provide excellent patient service by addressing inquiries, offering medication counseling, and supporting overall patient care initiatives within the pharmacy setting.
Skills
- Proven experience as a pharmacy technician in LTC (Long-Term Care), hospital or community pharmacy environments with an emphasis on knowledge of community pharmacy operations.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, pharmacological medical terminology, and drug regulation policies.
- Demonstrated ability to perform pharmaceutical calculations accurately and efficiently.
- Experience with pharmacy software systems for data entry, medication tracking, and inventory management.
- Familiarity with state healthcare regulations, drug regulation laws, and maintaining compliance with pharmaceutical standards.
- Excellent customer service skills combined with the ability to communicate complex medical information clearly to patients and healthcare professionals.
- Ability to work effectively in fast-paced environments requiring acute care experience or critical care background is preferred.
