Micro‑Trenching OperatorWhere You’ll Work
Sacramento‑area streets, parking lots, and rights‑of‑way—cutting ultra‑narrow slots (¾–2 in. wide, 12–18 in. deep) so we can drop fiber and power to the future. You’ll report to our Construction Superintendent and team up with laborers, traffic‑control staff, and the backfill/patch crew.
Why This Role Matters
Micro‑trenching is the critical first step in every build. A smooth, on‑line cut keeps restoration costs low and keeps the customer (AT&T/MasTec) smiling. You own that line.
Day‑to‑Day Expectations

What You’ll Do
Operate the saw (Ditch Witch/Vermeer) at production pace—2,500‑3,500 ft per shift—keeping depth ± ⅛ in. Footage cut / zero utility strikes. Pre‑trip / post‑trip & field maintenance—fluid checks, teeth changes, vac‑spoil offload 0 unplanned downtime. Locate & protect utilities with plans, EM locator, and potholing crew 0 strikes, 100 % permits signed off. Traffic & pedestrian safety—set cones, metal plates, spotter hand signals. No recordable incidents. Crew paperwork—production logs, daily JHA, equipment reports

What You Bring
· Hands‑on skill. 2+ yrs running pavement saws, trenchers, or milling machines.
· Blueprint & locate literacy. Read utility prints, set laser depth, spot potential conflicts.
· Safety credentials. OSHA 10 (Construction) or higher; clean MVR; able to pass pre‑hire drug/alcohol screen.
· Physical stamina. Lift 75 lbs, work outdoors in heat, cold, dust, and night‑shift traffic closures.
· Bonus points: Class A CDL, Confined‑Space cert, AT&T/MasTec OSP experience, bilingual English/Spanish.

· $30‑$35 per hour DOE — plus prevailing‑wage upgrades on public‑works jobs.
