Responsibilities
- Safely operate tractor-trailers and various specialized trucks including refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, and tankers across over-the-road (OTR) routes.
- Load, secure, transport, and unload freight while adhering to all safety protocols and regulations such as FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) standards.
- Navigate using GPS navigation systems to ensure efficient route planning and timely deliveries.
- Handle logistics cargo including hazardous materials (hazmat), dangerous goods, and other freight types following hazardous materials regulations.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections on trucks to ensure compliance with DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations and maintain vehicle safety standards.
- Load and unload cargo manually or with equipment, ensuring proper manual handling techniques to prevent injuries.
- Maintain accurate documentation of deliveries, logs, inspection reports, and compliance records in accordance with DOT regulations.
Requirements
- Valid CDL A license with a clean driving record.
- Proven experience in commercial truck driving, including route driving with tractor-trailers or similar heavy vehicles.
- Knowledge of FMCSA regulations, DOT rules, hazardous materials regulations, and safety standards for truck loading/unloading.
- Ability to operate various truck types such as refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, and other freight carriers.
- Familiarity with GPS navigation tools for route planning and delivery efficiency.
- Strong manual handling skills for load & unload tasks while following safety procedures.
- Excellent driving skills with a focus on safety, hazard awareness, and compliance with all federal and state transportation laws.
- Ability to work independently on long-distance routes while maintaining a high level of professionalism and attention to detail.
