Job Summary
The Neuro Rehab Tech/Smart Living Teacher will specialize in home health in the ABQ and Rio Rancho area to persons with Brain Injury in a home setting and will teach, train, observe, supervise and provide assistance and strategies to help participants gain independence. Teach functional daily living skills including behavior, communication and social skills as well as community-based skills. Teach and assist with executive skills such as budgeting, managing appointments and assisting with correspondence. Teach and assist with household tasks and housekeeping skills. Will provide comprehensive customized programming of smart devices and will provide comprehensive travel training such as teaching participants how to use Wayfinder smartphone technology and public transportation in a safe, and, ultimately, independent capacity.
Duties
· Provide homemaker companion services, including assistance with activities of daily living, meal preparation, housekeeping, and community inclusion.
· Deliver life skills coaching focused on executive functioning, organization, communication, decision-making, and money management.
· Provide basic technology coaching related to devices, reminders, scheduling, email, documentation, and cyber awareness.
· Implement individualized teaching goals and support plans based on Outcome Goal Plans, treatment plans, and crisis plans.
· Provide behavior management support, including emotional regulation strategies and implementation of established behavioral interventions.
· Advocate for participant choice, autonomy, and dignity in all services provided.
· Maintain effective communication with participants, team members, supervisors, families, and support systems.
· Ensure participant health and safety by recognizing signs of illness, understanding medication side effects, and following emergency protocols.
· Maintain accurate documentation including progress notes, incident reports, attendance, and daily activity logs.
· Provide transportation as required, following ARCA driving and transportation policies.
· Participate in required trainings, staff meetings, coaching, and performance reviews.
· Report suspected abuse, neglect, or exploitation in accordance with legal and ARCA requirements.
· Maintain HIPAA compliance and protect all confidential information.
· Abuse / Neglect / Emergency Situations treats individuals served with dignity and respect at all times and reports suspected abuse or neglect per law and policy.
· HIPAA Compliance & Confidentiality has full access to PHI necessary to carry out job duties in compliance with HIPAA and ARCA policies.
Requirements
· Ability to coordinate care across interdisciplinary teams.
· Strong verbal and written communication skills.
· Ability to provide leadership, training, and clinical guidance.
· Basic computer, documentation, and EMR skills.
· Minimum age of 18 years.
· High school diploma or GED required.
· At least six (6) months experience or training in healthcare or human services, preferably with adults with acquired brain injuries.
· CBIS certification preferred; must obtain Brain Injury Fundamentals/CBIS certification within 24 months if not currently certified.
· Valid New Mexico Driver’s License with acceptable driving record if driving is required.
· Negative tuberculosis test or physician clearance.
· ARCA is Federally funded, the use of legalized marijuana, or medical marijuana is strictly prohibited.
· Must comply with Federal, State and Local requirements for infectious disease protocols.
