Position Summary:
Estimate and bid projects in the Service & Legacy lane to meet MBW’s sales and booking goals. Produce accurate, complete takeoffs and proposals that meet customer requirements while delivering the best solutions and maximizing quality, value, and margin. Proactively work to set Operations up to meet customer expectations once a project is awarded.
Job Responsibilities:
Complete takeoffs, Sales Opportunities, Salesforce, and CEW estimating forms on all sales estimates. Target an average of 40% gross profit while winning work at market level and preparing accurate budgets

Meet or exceed the annual sales quota.

Review the client, project, and specifications to determine whether an Invitation to Bid (ITB) is a good fit.

Proactively reach out to repeat customers to get additional ITB if applicable

Contact the Customer Project Manager to gather a project overview, budget, and other relevant details, capturing everything in Salesforce.

Post the takeoff, submit the scope of work to the client, and follow up to review the bid.

Respond promptly and professionally to clients and employees at all levels of the organization, completing required paperwork and responding to requests, calls, and emails.

Thoroughly review plans and specifications, secure material pricing, and use our Cost Estimate Worksheet to build accurate budgets before submitting a bid.

Perform job walks when applicable using the Salesforce job walk form, and post footage, site conditions, and other relevant details in Salesforce.

Collaborate with the team through timely communication, meeting attendance, and posting bid updates in Salesforce.

Manage change orders, RFIs, addenda, and bulletin reviews as required for opportunities that are bid and awarded.

Conduct turnover meetings with the PM and Operations team before the contract is signed and returned. Ensure all plan documents, takeoffs, the Cost Estimate Worksheet (CEW), special material price quotes, scope of work, SOV, notes, photos, videos, and emails are complete, current, and organized.

Provide clarification and support to the PM on bid projects as needed.

Manage time effectively to balance estimating, customer visits, and pre-sale job walks as needed.

Interact effectively and respectfully with customers, vendors, and other employees.

Refer to and follow MBW Estimator Operating Agreement for more specific job responsibilities.

Uphold the core values and mission statement of MBW at all times.
Education and Experience:

Associate’s degree in construction management or a related field, plus a minimum of 1-2 years as an Estimator or Project Manager, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Bachelor’s degree in construction management, civil engineering, or a related field preferred.

Understanding of construction contracts and terminology

Knowledge of estimating strategies and techniques

Must have a working knowledge of On-Screen Takeoff and/or Bluebeam or equal

Must be proficient in the use of MS Word, Outlook, and Excel spreadsheets

Familiarity with OSHA/safety practices on construction sites

Proficiency using internet search tools for research.

Prior commercial construction knowledge preferred
