Aspen Mini Storage is seeking a dependable, customer-focused Self Storage Assistant Facility Manager to help deliver exceptional customer service while supporting the daily operations of our Flagstaff facility.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with people, takes pride in maintaining a clean and secure property, and is comfortable balancing customer service, sales, administrative duties, and light facility maintenance.
As a key member of our team, you will partner with the Facility Manager to ensure our customers receive outstanding service while helping maintain a safe, organized, and professional storage environment.
What You'll Do
Customer Service & Sales
- Help customers identify the storage solutions that best meet their needs.
- Assist in converting customer inquiries into rentals.
- Support occupancy, revenue, and customer retention goals.
- Professionally address customer questions, concerns, and account inquiries.
- Process move-ins, move-outs, and account updates.
- Deliver exceptional customer service that builds brand loyalty and positive customer endorsements by leveraging company-provided digital tools (e.g., QR codes, automated emails), while strictly adhering to company and industry guidelines.
- Resolve customer issues and de-escalate difficult situations when necessary.
Facility Operations
- Conduct daily property inspections and facility walkthroughs.
- Perform lock checks and verify unit availability.
- Monitor facility security systems and report suspicious activity.
- Help maintain a clean, safe, and attractive property.
- Clean vacant units and common areas.
- Assist with routine maintenance tasks and report repair needs promptly.
Administrative & Financial Responsibilities
- Process customer payments and rental transactions accurately.
- Handle cash, checks, and credit card transactions according to company procedures.
- Balance cash drawers and assist with daily bank deposits.
- Maintain customer records and confidential information.
- Follow up on delinquent accounts and collection activities.
- Assist with lease administration and compliance with Arizona self-storage lien laws.
- Review invoices, reconcile information, and perform basic calculations accurately.
What We're Looking For
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of customer service, retail, sales, or related experience.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to remain professional and positive when handling customer concerns.
- Comfortable working independently and managing multiple priorities.
- Basic math skills, including percentages, discounts, and cash handling.
- Experience with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and other office software.
- Ability to learn new software systems and databases.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Some college coursework preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with Arizona self-storage lien laws.
- Previous self-storage, property management, banking, retail management, or sales experience.
- Valid Arizona driver's license and insurable driving record.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 35 pounds.
- Ability to walk, climb stairs, and work outdoors for up to 50% of the workday.
- Ability to work in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and snow.
- Ability to assist with snow removal and seasonal property maintenance as needed.
Schedule Expectations
This position is scheduled for two days per week and requires Saturday availability. Candidates must be dependable and willing to assist with occasional shift coverage during vacations, staffing shortages, weather events, and other operational needs.
