Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated full-time Direct Care Worker to provide essential support to individuals with disabilities and autism in a residential setting. The ideal candidate will be committed to enhancing the quality of life for our clients by delivering personalized care and assistance. This role requires a strong understanding of direct support techniques, behavior management, and patient care practices.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct support to individuals with disabilities and autism in daily living activities.
- Assist clients with personal care tasks, including bathing, grooming, and dressing.
- Implement care plans tailored to each individual's needs, ensuring adherence to established guidelines.
- Administer medication as prescribed and monitor clients for any side effects or changes in condition.
- Employ behavior management strategies to promote positive interactions and reduce challenging behaviors.
- Maintain accurate documentation of client progress and any incidents in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Lift and assist clients as needed, ensuring their safety and comfort during transfers.
- Foster a supportive environment that encourages independence while providing necessary assistance.
Experience
- Previous experience in direct support or assisted living environments is preferred.
- Familiarity with working with individuals with autism or other disabilities is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of behavior management techniques and patient care practices is essential.
- Understanding of HIPAA regulations regarding patient confidentiality and care documentation is required.
- Ability to lift clients safely and provide physical assistance as needed.
- A compassionate demeanor, strong communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively within a team are crucial for success in this role.
