Are you looking for a meaningful part-time role where you can truly make a difference? We’re seeking a committed and compassionate Part-Time Telecommunicator to support our emergency communications team. In this essential position, you’ll serve as the first point of contact during critical situations—delivering calm, clear, and accurate information when every second counts.
As a Part-Time Telecommunicator, you’ll handle a variety of emergency and non-emergency calls, utilizing computer-aided dispatch (CAD) systems to coordinate timely responses. You’ll also assist in maintaining detailed records and supporting documentation, ensuring smooth operations and public safety.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
- Operates emergency communication systems to receive and process complaints and service requests.

Gathers critical information and dispatches appropriate emergency personnel.

Provides callers with guidance or refers them to the appropriate agency or contact.

Accesses and relays information from the DCI/NCIC system to support law enforcement operations.

Monitors the status and safety of law enforcement, fire, rescue, and EMS personnel via radio communications.

Monitors public and private fire and security alarm systems.

Assists with address assignments, road sign installation, and updates to the 911 addressing system.

Provides direct logistical and operational support to the Emergency Management Team in times of disaster and major incidents.

Maintains accurate computerized communication logs and reports.

Enters phone number changes into the 911 index database.

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Moderate experience in telecommunications, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Physical Requirements

Special Requirements
Possession of North Carolina DCI certification.
Possession of TDD certification.
Possession of PowePhone Basic, Fire, Medical and Law Telecommunicator certifications.
Possession of NC EMD certification.
Pass background security check and drug screen
Valid driver's license in the State of North Carolina.
