Veterinary Technician
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Veterinary Technician to join our team. As a Veterinary Technician, you will play a crucial role in providing exceptional care to our animal patients and supporting the veterinarians in delivering high-quality veterinary services. You will work closely with the veterinary team and assist in various medical procedures, examinations, treatments, and surgeries. Responsibilities:
1. Assisting veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and other medical procedures.
2. Administering medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed by veterinarians.
3. Collecting and analyzing laboratory samples, such as blood, urine, and tissue samples.
4. Performing diagnostic tests, including radiographs (X-rays), and laboratory tests.
5. Monitoring patients under anesthesia and during recovery.
6. Providing nursing care for hospitalized animals, including grooming, feeding, and exercise.
7. Educating pet owners on animal care, medication administration, and post-operative care once determined and decided by veterinarians.
8. Maintaining accurate medical records and updating patient information in the practice management system.
9. Assisting with client communication and answering inquiries about pet health and veterinary services once approved by and discussed by the veterinarians.
10. Maintaining cleanliness and organization of the veterinary clinic and equipment.
11. Adhering to safety protocols and infection control procedures.
12. Participating in continuing education and staying up-to-date with veterinary advancements.
Qualifications:
1. Certification or licensure as a Veterinary Technician appreciated.
2. Previous experience working as a Veterinary Technician is appreciated.
3. Thorough knowledge of veterinary medical procedures, terminology, and animal anatomy.
4. Proficiency in performing various veterinary technical skills, such as venipuncture, anesthesia monitoring, and radiography.
5. Excellent communication skills with the ability to educate and communicate effectively with clients and team members once approved by veterinarians.
6. Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
7. Compassionate and empathetic nature towards animals and their owners.
8. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a veterinary team.
9. Familiarity with veterinary practice management software is a plus.
