Who We Are
Luckycat is a newly launched, woman- and AAPI-owned specialty coffee shop in Lakeview East. Our café brings together carefully sourced coffee and thoughtfully made food, shaped by an Asian American point of view: approachable on the surface, with real craft behind it.
What You'll Do
- Handle kitchen opening and closing duties following our set procedures
- Assemble and prepare food items on the spot for guests
- Help produce our baked goods, pastries, and dessert offerings alongside standard prep work
- Keep your workspace safe, tidy, and organized, and pitch in to keep the café spotless from both a guest-experience and health-code perspective
- Clean and maintain kitchen equipment on a routine basis
- Stay in close communication with teammates and managers, working together to give customers a great experience
- Bring a careful, detail-oriented approach to every item you prep or finish
- Keep on top of prep lists and order tickets efficiently
- Track inventory and prep needs, checking in regularly with management and the wider team
- Help restock supplies and manage inventory as the need arises
- Follow all City of Chicago health and safety requirements
What You Bring
- At least 1 year of prior kitchen experience
- Solid grasp of food temperature control, common kitchen tools, knife handling, and correct storage practices
- An eye for presentation when packaging items for retail display
- A friendly, customer-first attitude and a proactive mindset
- Comfort with basic math and food ratio calculations
- Ease working in a made-from-scratch kitchen setting
- Physical ability to stand for stretches of up to 5 hours
- Physical ability to lift items of 40 lbs or more
- Flexible scheduling, including weekend availability
- Willingness to secure a Chicago food handler's license before your start date
Baking & Dessert Background
Experience with sweets, pastries, or dessert-making is a big plus and any background in baking will set you apart!
