Duties
- Safely operate tractor-trailers, including refrigerated trailers, Dry van trailers, and other commercial vehicles in accordance with FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations and DOT (Department of Transportation) standards
- Plan routes using GPS navigation systems to optimize delivery times and fuel efficiency.
- Deliver goods to various destinations while adhering to scheduled routes and delivery windows
- Comply with hazardous materials regulations when transporting dangerous goods or hazardous materials, following all safety protocols
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, vehicle inspections, and cargo documentation in line with FMCSA regulations
- Perform routine vehicle inspections and basic maintenance checks to ensure safety and operational readiness before each trip
Requirements
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with endorsements for manual transmission operation for a minimum of 2 years.
- Proven experience in commercial truck driving, including route driving and freight delivery
- Familiarity with different truck types such as tractor-trailers, flatbeds, tankers, refrigerated trailers, dump trucks, and roll-off trucks
- Strong knowledge of DOT regulations, FMCSA guidelines, and hazardous materials handling procedures
- Ability to operate GPS navigation systems accurately for route planning
- Physical capability to handle freight manually or with equipment like forklifts; must be able to load/unload cargo safely
- Excellent driving record with a focus on safety and compliance
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
