Position Summary
DEI Power Solutions is seeking an organized and detail-oriented Inventory Specialist to manage materials and components used in the manufacturing of custom switchboards, panelboards, and other power-distribution equipment.
This position plays a critical role in keeping production moving by ensuring breakers, bus material, enclosures, hardware, electrical components, and other manufacturing supplies are accurately received, stored, tracked, and issued to active jobs. The ideal candidate understands manufacturing inventory, works well in a fast-paced environment, and can coordinate closely with purchasing, engineering, production, and project management.
Experience with electrical equipment, switchgear, switchboards, or industrial manufacturing inventory is strongly preferred.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive, inspect, label, and accurately record incoming materials and electrical components.
- Manage inventory for breakers, bus bar, enclosures, lugs, metering equipment, hardware, control components, and other switchgear-related materials.
- Verify received materials against purchase orders, packing slips, bills of material, and project requirements.
- Identify shortages, overages, damaged materials, and incorrect components and communicate discrepancies promptly.
- Organize and maintain inventory locations so materials can be quickly identified and retrieved.
- Issue and stage materials for production according to job numbers, bills of material, and manufacturing schedules.
- Create and maintain dedicated inventory kits for individual switchboard and panelboard projects.
- Track high-value and long-lead components throughout receiving, storage, production, and completion.
- Perform regular cycle counts and assist with physical inventory audits.
- Investigate inventory discrepancies and make approved system corrections.
- Maintain accurate inventory quantities within the company’s ERP or inventory-management system.
- Coordinate with purchasing regarding shortages, reorder requirements, and expected delivery dates.
- Work with engineering and production teams to confirm component specifications and approved substitutions.
- Help maintain minimum and maximum stocking levels for frequently used components.
- Monitor inventory usage and identify slow-moving, obsolete, or excess materials.
- Maintain clean, organized, and clearly labeled warehouse and material-staging areas.
- Prepare completed equipment, loose components, and replacement parts for shipment or customer pickup.
- Follow company safety procedures and proper material-handling practices.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Two or more years of inventory, warehouse, material-control, or manufacturing experience.
- Experience receiving, tracking, staging, and issuing materials in a production environment.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate inventory records.
- Ability to read purchase orders, packing slips, bills of material, and basic production documentation.
- Comfortable using inventory software, ERP systems, barcode scanners, and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and respond quickly to production needs.
- Ability to safely lift and move materials weighing up to [50] pounds.
- Ability to operate or become certified to operate forklifts and other material-handling equipment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Inventory experience with a switchgear, switchboard, panelboard, electrical-equipment, or industrial-control manufacturer.
- Familiarity with circuit breakers and components from Siemens, Eaton, Square D, ABB, or similar manufacturers.
- Understanding of electrical distribution equipment and common switchboard components.
- Experience working with bills of material and project-specific manufacturing inventory.
- Experience with job costing, material allocation, serial-number tracking, and cycle counting.
- Familiarity with UL 891 switchboard manufacturing or other UL-listed electrical equipment.
- Forklift certification.
- Experience implementing inventory controls, warehouse organization, or process improvements.
What Success Looks Like
The successful Inventory Specialist will maintain accurate inventory records, prevent material shortages, improve component traceability, and ensure production teams receive the correct materials at the correct time. This individual will take ownership of inventory accuracy and help DEI maintain dependable manufacturing schedules and customer lead times management.
Pay: $22.00 - $24.00 per hour
